What have you been doing lately? Here are a few behind the scenes sneak peaks at what is keeping us busy these days, including a frightening listen on the connection between microplastics and our health.

Three Transgender Kids Share Their Stories
Cup of Jo‘s team cultivates such a loving community that embraces people from all backgrounds, cultures, and belief systems. This post (~4 min read) reminds us all that even if something is unfamiliar or confusing to you – it can also be beautiful and true and worthy.
Kulu’s Journey: Pangolin Re-wilding
Our whole family loved this (~90 min) Netflix documentary. Andrei held a pangolin being re-wilded after a botched poaching attempt. And it was an awesome experience. This documentary portrays the gruesome nature of the animal trafficking industry, the painstaking “re-wilding” process, and the profound bond that develops between humans and animals.
Kulu’s journey is also available in paperback! And here are some other fun facts about pangolins.

Microplastics, how scared should we be?
Sanjay Gupta’s episode (~30 min) on the impact of micro- and nano-plastics on human health is downright frightening. A New England Journal of Medicine article found that the levels of plastics in the artery that feeds our brain is related steeply to an increase in heart attacks, stroke, and even death (yikes!).
So, what can we do about it?! Easy ways to go plastic free – carry an Owala, sport joggers made from recovered plastic waste, protect yourself from the sun with recycled fishing nets!
Eating, Beachcombing, and Shopping in Hout Bay, Capetown
We just wrapped up a scoping trip to Hout Bay, Capetown, where we hope to move soon! We stopped by Sealand. Their story is super inspiring. And Timothy scored this t-shirt.
If you ever get a chance to visit Hout Bay, definitely eat here and ask to be seated in the zen garden. Ask the owner to tell you stories about her time serving Nelson Mandela!
